This 4-core floating cable is an ROV tether. It is neutrally buoyant, has a breaking strength of 50 kg and contains water-blocking fibres that seal any leak. The core contains Kevlar yarns for strength and polyester yarns as space fillers; both are impregnated with a water-blocking compound so that a nick or crack in the cable cannot cause a leak.

The high-visibility yellow polyurethane foam jacket resists abrasion and provides neutral buoyancy. The stiffness of the cable is set to be flexible enough to give the ROV sufficient freedom of movement, yet stiff enough that it does not kink easily.
